Labor Day is a reminder of the achievements of our country’s labor movement, including: 8-hour workdays, overtime pay, paid sick time, paid vacation time, a minimum wage, child labor laws, safety standards, health benefits, unemployment insurance and more.
The fight continues. We have to set the record straight on income inequality. We have to raise the minimum wage. We have to protect retirement security. And, we have to protect our civil and workplace rights. I will be your champion for these issues in our state’s legislature.
As you celebrate this Labor Day, reflect on our nation’s accomplishments with an eye toward the future for our working families — people like you and me.
